The animation, even for its time, was way below average, and they unnecessarily stretch even the cannon parts sometimes. But hope you enjoy. You should definetely need to watch og naruto its a must actually,for me i binged naruto with all the filler and movies and i gotta say i really enjoyed it,there are some amazing filler arcs that should be considered canon,i think it is a better experience,so if you have the time and patience i highly recommend you watch the fillers,and the movies if you could they're good too.
I made it 52 episodes in and I kind of stopped watching it. I didn't drop it or anything, I was just more interested in other anime and Naruto wasn't really grabbing me. I'll continue it at some point though. Definitely watch Naruto because it sets you up for shippuden and gives you a lot of information.
You fan skip the fillers to speed it up but definitely watch Naruto first. Try watching the fillers at 2x speed, they aren't necessary for the story at all, but some are pretty funny.
